The Wildfire Alert Service obtains information on active wildfires from a variety of sources, including government wildfire data base queries, local fire departments, emergency agencies, as well as individuals.
Wildfire Alert Service Members can have the ability to enter up to three property location, i.e. an address or latitude and longitude. The member also enters an identified radius around the property locations.
Please see the FAQ section of the website to see details on the government databases that are queried.
The Wildfire Alert website provides information including maps showing wildfires relative to the member’s identified property.
Each member can submit up to 5 sets of email addresses/mobile phone numbers. These will be used by the Wildfire Alert Service to send emails and text alert notifications of wildfire information that becomes available to the service.
The member will only receive notifications for new and existing wildfires that are within the property location radius identified by the member. The site will continue to send message updates on the progress of these wildfires, whenever significant changes to the attributes of the wildfire occur, and as long as the wildfires are shown as active within the Wildfire Alert databases.
Additionally, fire departments and other emergency agencies are encouraged to become participants in the Wildfire Alert Service. The Wildfire Alert Service has a process by which local fire departments can submit new wildfire location information directly to the Wildfire Alert Service, and when these wildfires are located within the property location radius identified by the members it is passed on to them.
Each member is allowed to enter one property location for alert notifications.
Membership upgrades are available for members to enter up to three locations, please contact us for discounts on group rates.
